Green Thumb Sunday: Indoor jungle

In December, I took a trip with my friend and her son to the U.S. Botanic Gardens in Washington D.C. On Green Thumb Sundays all month, I’ll highlight some of the plantlife we saw between stops at each of the model trainsets scattered throughout the greenhouses.

I was wondering what you did in the winter, when most green thumbs turn gray. This looks so pretty, and isn’t it wonderful to be in a warm botanical garden in winter?

Katie, it was wonderful — all that humidity felt divine!

Ah, lovely green djungle. I just love greenhouses. It’s like a concentrated ordinary garden :-)

Mrs. Lifecruiser, that’s definitely the case. I hadn’t been to a botanical garden in awhile, and I wish we could have visited longer…but a nearly-three-year-old doesn’t have quite the attention span that adults do. Still, it was a fun outing, and great to see him watching the trains!

That is some dense greenery! I have been to DC but never visited the botanical garden! Looks like a very neat place!

Debbie, it is very cool. They just did a huge renovation — it wasn’t even open, I don’t think, when I left DC. They also just opened an outdoor garden again — it’s going to be beautiful when everything starts blooming. Definitely worth a visit!

Thanks, Chippenham, and thank you for stopping by!
