You gardening people were not kidding.

I walked outside last night for a quick peek at the garden before dinner, and noticed some wicked weeds growing up in my pot o’sage. “Stupid grass-seeded potting soil,” I muttered as I pulled them out one by one.

But then one green sprout, tucked in amidst the sage leaves, stopped me cold.

Mint invades sage

Yes, I planted sage and mint in the same pot back in April. Yes, I’d heard stories of mint rolling all over the yard. Yes, I have a pot of mint out here that is going like gangbusters. Yes, Steve is planning a mojitos festival.

But my God. I pulled the mint up out of that pot myself. I marveled at the root structure. But I thought I got it all.
