Well, you might need a squirrel for that (the emerging in a rogue pair).

I’m completely insulted. My house is 250 years old, and I never got any freebie flowers. :-(

I did find trout lillies around my pond though, and I do get my share of native violets and blue-eye grass ‘n such. Just no amazing heirlooms that were planted in another time. It’s a job I’ll have to continue for the people who live here 250 years from now.

Disappointing. Well, I actually do have freebie spearmint that comes up all around the old outhouse holes. That had to have been planted with some sort of deodorizing plan in mind, right?

I have freebie tulips too and this year I noticed a rogue pair of tulips that popped up in a completely random spot of the yard. I’ve never seen them before. It’s ironic because the tulips are my favorite colors for tulips red and yellow. The pair that emerged away from the rest of the bunch made me think that maybe when the conditions are just right I might emerge as a pair with someone! Only time will tell!

Isn’t gardening one of the best metaphors for life as a believer?

I guess I am not in this freebie flower upcomage. The prior owners didn’t have a garden. But I do have some freebie trees that have came up tho.

I feel the same way about the day lilies and scilla that someone planted in a corner of my yard (probably 30 years ago). I wish I felt the same way about my wildflower patch, but so far year 2 is not impressive.

One of the reasons I like my landlords is that they planted daffodils along one fence. Yeah, there are day lilies along the other, but daffodils are something.

I hear ‘ya. We weren’t in our house at this time last year, so it’s been exciting to see all of the previous owner’s tulips pop up. They truly are workhorses.
