It’s amazing what I’ll do for a good tomato.

I’m all for getting children interested in gardening so this is a wonderful idea. Happy GTS
Ruth, they do a really good job with the children’s garden every year — it’s always overgrown and a little wild, with plenty of nooks and crannies to duck in and out of. It’s really cute!
What a great idea. I love the sign – it is so colourful.

Thanks, Sara — I thought it was so cute!
It seems State Fairs are occuring all over the Mid-West from the posts I’ve read today. Our doesn’t happen until October, when the weather cools. Your photo makes me want to attend this year, for the first time in many years.

That’s so good, kids need to learn about the garden early on. To be careful about the nature too, so it goes hand in hand. Excellent.
I haven’t heard of anything like it over here in Sweden, but I would be very surprised if it didn’t exist. Maybe not whole gardens but part of it.
How fun it would have been if I had that chance as a kid :-)
Aiyana, you’d think the farmers who participate would have more time when it cools off. It would be fun to have one then — maybe hot cider on a stick?
Captain Lifecruiser, I remember there being tons of children’s parks and gardens all over Northern Europe when I was growing up in Germany — I bet there’s something in Scandanavia, too. You’ll have to let me know if you find anything!
I saw you at Lifecruiser’s and Iowa called me back :)
I used to live there, I went to school in Iowa City.
where was this pic taken??
Mar, this was taken at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on August 11. Glad to have you making a visit!
