Where it’s at: May 27

There’s been quite a bit of growth this week:

May 27 status

May 27 zucchiniThe zucchini is thriving, and I’m guessing it’s going to be taking the other plants’ lunch money very shortly. I hadn’t really noticed how big it was getting until last night, when we were out in the back yard grilling and slapping mosquitoes.

Note to shopping list: We’re going to have to get some good bug spray that doesn’t smell like a chemical factory. At one point, while juggling a glass of wine in one hand, I used the other to kill six mosquitoes in about fifteen seconds. Three were on my leg, one was on my hand, one was on my arm and one was on my t-shirt. I’m not usually that effective, but at dusk, they’re slow, easy targets.

    Steven,

That’s fascinating — I love the Chinese illustrations, too. I just might give it a try, but let me know how yours goes.
